Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку English holiday “Christmas in Britain and Khakasia”

Цель:
1. Познакомить учащихся с традициями Англии и Америки.
Задачи:
1. Развивать межпредметную связь с музыкой, изобразительным искусством;
2. Развивать творческую фантазию, познавательный интерес, инициативу в осуществлении иноязычной речевой деятельности;
3. Формирование у учащихся межкультурной компетенции, т.е. способности понимать и интерпретировать особенности культур в их различных проявлениях, что позволит обеспечить эффективность коммуникации и адекватное поведение в контексте межкультурного взаимодействия.
Оборудование:
1. Оформление кабинета (рисунки, елка, украшенная игрушками, снежинки на окнах, колокольчики).
2. Музыкальное оформление праздника (подбор музыки, песен).
3. Дети готовят стихи, песни, сообщения о рождественских традициях.
4. Мультимедиа

I. Предварительное знакомство с историей праздника на уроках английского языка при помощи презентации.
Christmas Day , December 25, is probably the most popular holiday in Great Britain. It is a family holiday. Traditionally all relatives and friends get together and give each other presents.
The history of Christmas dates back to thousand years.
The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336AD in the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine (he was the first Christian Roman Emperor). A few years later Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on the 25th December. This date was probably chosen because the Winter Solstice and the ancient pagan Roman midwinter festivals called 'Saturnalia' and 'Dies Natalis Solis Invicti' took place in December. St Augustine was the person who really started Christmas in the UK by introducing Christianity in the 6th century.He came from countries that used the Roman Calendar, so western countries celebrate Christmas on the 25th December. Then people from Britain and Western Europe took Christmas on the 25th December all over the world!

Teacher: It is so interesting. But, what can you tell about Christmas in Russia, especially in our region? (данное задание позволяет ребятам сравнить традиции, как в Британии, так и в Хакасии. Ребята сами ищут информацию, пытаются сравнить наши традиции, выделить как общее, так и то, что нас разделяет).
Pupil: The Republic of Khakasia is a federal subject of Russia located in south-central Siberia. Its capital city is Abakan, which is also the largest city in the republic. Our republic is a hospitable, picturesque land where there are a lot of steppes, healthy lakes, wondrous mountains, rivers and mysterious caves. That is why it attracts adventurers from all over the world.
Teacher: What do you know about National holidays of Khakasia?
Pupil: National holidays of Khakasia – "Cheer Chaan", "Toong Payram" and "Chyl Pazy" are very popular not only among local population, but also foreign visitors. All who have been to Khakasia are amazed by the rich nature of the republic. And they say that this region is a loving place to live and they would like to stay here forever.
Teacher: What about Christmas?
Pupil: For the religious Russians and Khakasians Christmas is full of spiritual meaning and is celebrated both at home and at church. Christmas service is one of the most beautiful and important services in the year. Nowadays, Christmas church services are shown on TV, so that you can be part of the big holiday even if you are far away from a nearest church. Christmas services are held on the night of January 6 and are among the most beautiful services of the year.
Teacher: Why do Russians Orthodox people celebrate Christmas on the 7th January and not on the 25th December?
Pupil: Well, the reason is that the Russian Orthodox Church still lives according to the old Julian Calendar, which is currently 13 days behind the Gregorian Calendar, which is adopted by most countries in the world (and by the Russian government).
Teacher: Are there similarities during the celebration of Christmas?
Pupil: Yes, of course. During the festive period, most city squares will turn into carnivals of ice sculptures, fairground rides, market stalls and sleigh rides with Dyed Maroz (Russian father Christmas) .
Teacher: And now meet Father Christmas! He wants to listen to the poems about Christmas and songs.
