Задания для кроссворда
1.These animals are aggressive. They are certainly more dangerous than lions and tigers. They are very heavy – some are about three thousand kilograms. But they can run very fast and swim well, they don’t like people. They kill more people in Africa than any other animal.
2. They are the smallest birds. They can fit in the palm of our hand. They are the only birds that can fly backwards. These birds are famous for their unique ability to fly backwards but they can also fly up, down, forwards, backwards and even upside down. When they beat their wings rapidly they produce a humming sound.
3. They are the largest member of the cat family. They can be one metre high and two or three metres long. They also have very long tails. These animals have beautiful black and orange striped fur, pointed ears and yellow eyes. Their eyes shine in the dark. Of course, they also have both long claws and very sharp teeth. These animals live in either forests or mountains. They usually live near trees so they can hide from danger. These animals usually hunt at night because they can see very well in the dark. They eat large animals like deer. They can run very fast, they don’t always catch their prey.
4. They are perfect for desert life. They have two rows of eyelashes to keep sand out of their eyes. They can close their long noses to keep out the sand too. If this animal is thirsty it will drink a lot of water at once. It can drink up to 140 litres of water. If it drinks a lot of water, it won’t drink again for over a week.
5. What word is omitted in the poem?
Walking along feeling free
Feeling the Earth here with me
And I love the Earth, the Earth hugs me.
The Earth is our friend,
We’d like to be together forever.
The Earth is a garden.
It’s a beautiful place
For all living creatures,
For all the human race.
Helping Mother Earth
We can peacefully roam.
We all deserve a place
We can call our home.
Don’t forget to defend our small friends, our …!
Food is a treasure from the soil and the sea.
Clean, fresh air from the plants and the trees.
The warmth of the sun giving life each day.
Turns water into rain, it’s nature’s way.
Only when all the rivers have become dry
And all the fish in the sea have died
Only when all the rainforests have been burnt down
And there is no food for the animals
Only when all the blue skies have been filled with smoke
And the cities of the world have choked
We’ll understand
That it’s too late to save the Earth.
I love the Earth, the Earth hugs me.
The Earth is our friend,
We’d like to be together forever.
The Earth is a garden.
It’s a beautiful place
For all living creatures,
For all the human race!
6. These birds are black and white. They have got a long tail. Thanks to their long tail they can easily maneuver through the air and rapidly change direction of flight. There are 15 species of these birds. They can be found in Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. According to a popular myth this bird likes to collect and store shiny objects, jewelry in the nest. Recent scientific studies show that this bird is actually scared of shiny items and it avoids them.
7. They are fantastic creatures. They used to live everywhere in North America. They became an endangered species in the 1960s because people had been hunting them for years. They are big birds with yellow beaks and brown feathers. Adult birds have white feathers on their heads so they look bald. They live near mountain lakes, and they build their nests in tall trees. They eat small animals and fish. They’re very good hunters because their eyesight is very powerful. In fact, it’s four times better than human eyes.
8. They live in the forests of the warm countries. They climb up the trees with their hands and legs. They climb down the trees very seldom, because the trees give them all necessary food – young leaves, juicy shoots and fruit. They find drinking water in the hollows of the leaves where it gets after the rain. They move on the ground with the help of arms and legs.
9. You can see this fish in Africa. It can "climb" out of water and "walk" short distances. It uses the gill plates as supports, and the fish pushes itself using its fins and tail.
10. This animal is white and black. It can be found only in China where it is protected by the law. It eats a lot of bamboo. These animals are able to climb and take shelter in hollow trees.
11. They’re excellent swimmers. In fact, they can swim at thirty kilometres per hour. The largest ones weigh 140 kg, and they are more than a metre long. They can easily catch fish and escape from most natural predators. The land can be even more dangerous for them than the sea. These reptiles are characterized by a special shell which is used as a shield.
12. They live in the tropical forests of Africa and Asia. The thick skin protects them against twigs and thorns. But insects creep into the folds of their skin and bite them. That’s why this animal often bathes to get rid of them. The neck is short. It takes the food from the ground and the trees with its trunk.
