Three Little Pigs Little Red Riding Hood
CHARACTERS:
Storyteller
Wolf
SCENE ONE
Setting: Forest. Storyteller appears on the stage.
Storyteller: This famous wicked little tale
Should never have been put on sale.
It is a mystery to me
Why loving parents cannot see
That this is actually a book
About a brazen little crook...
It was my dream to write a tale!
Why cannot it be put on sale?
And the main characters will be:
The Wolf, Miss Riding Hood
And Piglets - one, two, three.
And never mind if
It is wicked or it's fun...
The tale has already begun.
Wolf enters. He is dancing and singing a song.
Wolf: You are my sunshine, my only sunshine;
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you;
Please don't take my sunshine away.
The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping,
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken,
So I hung my head and I cried.
Storyteller: As soon as Wolf began to feel
That he would like a decent meal,
He went and knocked at Grandma's door.
... And you are absolutely right
He ate her up in one big bite.
But Grandmamma was small and tough,
And Wolfie wailed:
Wolf: That's not enough!
I haven't yet begun to feel
That I have had a decent meal!
(Leaves the stage.)
SCENE TWO
Setting: Pigs enter. There are three houses on the stage. Pigs are building their houses and dancing. Wolf enters from the left.
Wolf: The animal I really dig
Above all others is the pig.
Pig 1: Pigs are noble.
Pig 2: Pigs are clever.
Pig 3: Pigs are courteous.
Wolf: However,
Now and then, to break this rule,
I meet a pig who is a fool.
Wolf: (to Storyteller) What, for example, would you say?
If strolling through the woods one day,
Right there in front of you saw
A pig who'd build his house of STRAW?
Storyteller: The Wolf who saw it licked his lips.
Wolf: That pig has had his chips.
(to Pig 1 gently) Little pig, little pig, let me come in!
Pig 1: (
in a scared voice) No, no, by the hairs on my chinny-chin-chin!
Wolf: Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in!
Pig 1: (trembling) I am not gonna cry,
I will stay in the woods,
When my heart is aching
I dance with the wolves.
Storyteller: The little Pig began to pray,
But Wolfie blew his house away.
Wolf: Bacon, pork and ham!
Oh, what a lucky Wolf I am!
Storyteller: And though he ate the Pig quite fast.
He carefully kept the tail till last.
Wolf wandered on, a trifle bloated.
Wolf: (with admiration) Surprise, surprise!
Another little house for pigs
And this one had been built of TWIGS!
Wolf: (gently) Little pig, little pig. Let me come in!
Pig 2: (bravely) No, no, by the hairs on my chinny-chin-chin!
Wolf: Then I'll huff and I'll puff
And I'll blow your house in!
Pig 2: (calmly) I am not gonna cry,
I will stay in the woods,
When my heart is aching
I dance with the wolves.
Wolf: Okay, here we go!
Storyteller: He then began to blow and blow.
The little pig began to squeal.
Pig 2: Oh, Wolf, you have already had one meal!
Why can't we talk and make a deal?
Wolf: Not on your nelly!
Storyteller: And soon the pig was in his belly.
Wolf: Two juicy little pigs.
Storyteller: Wolf cried.
Wolf: But still I am not satisfied!
I know full well my tummy's bulging,
But oh, how I adore indulging.
Storyteller: So creeping quietly as a mouse,
The Wolf approached another house,
A house which also had inside
A little piggy trying to hide.
Pig 3: (boastfully) I am piggy number three.
I am bright and brainy as can be. . No straw for me, no twigs or sticks.
I have my house built of BRICKS!
You will not get me!
Wolf: I will blow you down!
Pig 3: You will need a lot of puff,
I don't think you've got enough.
Storyteller: Wolf buffed and puffed and blew and blew.
The house stayed up as good as new.
Wolf: If I can't blow it down, I said,
I will have to blow it up instead.
I will come back in the dead of night
And blow it up with dynamite!
Pig 3: (with confidence) You think you know me,
Think you control me,
The more you feel you are right ,
The more you are going wrong.
Don't say you got me,
You don't know anything about me.
The more you make me weak
The more I am getting strong.
You brute! I might have known!
Storyteller: Then picking up the telephone,
He dialed as quickly as he could
The number of Red Riding Hood.
Red Riding Hood appears on the stage.
Red Riding Hood: (taking a call) Hello, who is speaking?
Who?
Oh, hello Piggy, How d'you do?
Pig 3: (with emotion) I need your help, Miss Hood!
Oh help me please!
Do you think you could?
Red Riding Hood: I'll try, of course, what's on your mind?
Storyteller: Miss Hood replied.
Pig 3: A Wolf!
Storyteller: Pig cried.
Pig 3: I know you have dealt with wolves before,
And now I have got one at my door!
Red Riding Hood: (in a sweet voice) My darling Pig, my sweet.
That is something really up my street.
I've just begun to wash me hair.
But when it's dry, I'll be right there.
Storyteller: A short while later, through the wood,
Came striding, brave Miss Riding Hood.
The Wolf stood there, his eyes ablaze
And yellowish like mayonnaise.
His teeth were sharp, his gums were raw,
And spit was dripping from his jaw.
Wolf: (with irritation) That's wrong! Have you forgot
To tell me what BIG TEETH I've got?
Ah well, no matter what you say,
I'm going to eat him anyway.
Red Riding Hood: The pig, if I'm not mistaken,
Supplies us sausage, ham and bacon.
Let others say his heart is big -
I call it stupid of the pig.
Storyteller: Once more the maiden's eyelid flickers,
She draws the pistol from her knickers.
Once more, she hits that vital spot,
And kills the Wolf with a single shot.
Pig, peeping through the window, stood.
Pig 3: Well done Miss Riding Hood!
Red Riding Hood: Ah Piglet, you must never trust
Young ladies from the upper crust.
Storyteller: The small girl smiles. One eyelid flickers.
She whips a pistol from her knickers.
She aims it at the creature's head
And bang, bang, she shoots him dead.
SCENE THREE
Setting: Storyteller going along the stage.
Storyteller: A few weeks later, in the wood,
I came across Miss Riding Hood.
But what a change? No cloak of red,
No silly hood upon her head.
Red Riding Hood: Hello, and do please note
My lovely furry WOLFSKIN COAT!
Storyteller: For now, Miss Riding Hood, one notes,
Not only has two wolfskin coats,
But when she goes from place to place,
She has s PIGSKIN TRAVELLING CASE.
THE END
